SRZero Gets The Green Light From Worldwide Media
7th June 2010
Development of Radical’s SRZero is continuing apace, with a number of exciting events taking place since the car’s road-registration one month ago. The car has now completed over 1,000 miles of testing, ahead of its planned Pan-American Highway trip later this year.
The first major milestone for the project was to prove its range. The Racing Green Endurance team, based at Imperial College, have been developing the car in partnership with Radical, and on 29 May completed two laps of the M25, London’s orbital motorway, on a single charge; that’s 264 miles, over thirty miles further than a Tesla’s range, and with plenty of charge still in reserve.
The SRZero project is also rapidly gaining momentum in the international media, with the Sunday Times, The Engineer, Sky News and BBC Radio 4 queuing up to find out about the car. Indeed, Racing Green’s press day attendees included TV personality Robert Llewellyn, a passionate supporter of ‘green’ technology, better known for his roles in Scrapheap Challenge and Red Dwarf.
Last week, the car was also driven by evo magazine’s Roger Green, who praised the car for its technical ability, ride and power delivery.
The Racing Green Endurance team are continuing to develop the car; to keep up-to-date with the latest news and videos from the project (produced by Long Way Round’s Claudio von Planta), click here to visit the RGE website.
