Hugo wins in Boavista street circuit

16th July 2009

Hugo started the weekend in style after claiming the first win of the weekend increasing is championship lead.
Race one
After securing 1st row of the grid with 2nd position in qualifying, behind the Juno of Pedro Salvador, Hugo had great hopes of a good result. During the rolling start, Hugo managed to keep 2nd position safe from the powerful Porsche 997 and started to follow the leading car. After 20 minutes, the safety car comes in due to a crash in the race and Hugo pitted straight away to change drivers in 2nd position. Because the safety car regrouped the cars in the race and due to the different stop times for different cars, the reigning PTCC Champion César Campaniço takes control of the Radical SR3 and joins the race in 8th position. Cesar started to push and was overtaking cars lap after lap to catch the leading Porsche 997 two laps to the end. César was trying every move, but the Porsche driver was defending his position very well until he couldn't avoid a mistake, which allowed César to take the lead four corners before the end of the race. A fantastic overtaking move and a great result to start the weekend.
Race two
This time César started the race in Pole position but couldn't avoid the faster Juno to take the lead in the first lap. César was pushing and doing very fast laps, until he found a car crashed in front of him who made him spin and end the race there and then. An unfortunate incident that cost us another victory as with our pace and the pit-stop handicaps, surely we could have fought for the win. Still another great result for the championship which allowed Hugo Pereira to increase his lead.
